Weekly Top Tens and Power Rankings - 5/24/15

THE SOCCERSMITH'S MLS POWER RANKINGS

- Seattle Sounders (6-3-2) - Disappointing result against Sporting at home, but with the craziness of this week, who else deserves this spot. Last Week: 2
- Sporting Kansas City (4-2-6) - Injuries have taken their toll on Sporting, but the offense erupted against New England and the defense delivered against Seattle. Benny Feilhaber is playing sensational football. Last Week: 8
- FC Dallas (6-3-3) - Got tripped up on the road against suddenly relevant Montreal. Nothing they shouldn't be able to bounce back from though. Last Week: 1
- New England Revolution (5-3-5) - Tough week with a big loss against Sporting and then lost Chris Tierney and Lee Nguyen to red cards against DC United. To their credit they salvaged a draw against the Eastern Conference frontrunners despite being left with 9 players. Last Week: 3
- DC United (6-2-4) - Only mustered one goal despite a 30+ minute two man advantage against New England. Last Week: 5
- Columbus Crew (4-4-3) - Kei Kamara is having a career year, but once against inconsistency cost the Crew as they squandered a two goal lead against Chicago. Last Week: 6
- New York Red Bulls (4-2-5) - Lost 2-0 at home to lowly Philadelphia. The Red Bulls are in a rut having been shutout in back-to-back matches. Last Week: 4
- San Jose Earthquakes (5-4-3) - Congratulations to Chris Wondolowski for becoming the 9th player in MLS history to reach 100 goals. Way to go, Wondo! Last Week: 9
- Vancouver Whitecaps (6-5-2) - Snuck past Edmonton with a late winner to advance to the Canadian Championship Finals, but couldn't produce the same magic against Colorado. Last Week: 7
- Montreal Impact (2-3-2) - Who are these guys? Knocked Toronto out of the Canadian Championship last week, and now have back-to-back wins against Western Conference contenders. Last Week: 13
- Toronto FC (4-5-1) - The Atomic Ant is doing his best to make people forget that Jozy Altidore is out injured. Last Week: 11
- Real Salt Lake (4-3-5) - Nick Rimando turned in his 120th career shutout, but more importantly, Joao Plata got back on the field. Last Week: 15
- LA Galaxy (4-4-5) - Is anyone better at late game heroics than Alan Gordon? And now Robbie Keane is back too. Last Week: 16
- Orlando City SC (3-5-4) - Salvaged a point despite losing Brek Shea to a red card. While Kaká converted a penalty to give him five goals on the year, he still only has two assists. Last Week: 12
- Houston Dynamo (4-5-4) - Disappointing showing against the Galaxy after it looked like the Barnes/Bruin tandem was heating up. Last Week: 10
- Chicago Fire (3-5-2) - Showed a lot of fight against the Crew, but the offense still needs work. Last Week: 14
- Colorado Rapids (2-2-7) - No team has fewer losses than the Rapids, but their win against Vancouver was just their second this year. That said, Luis Solignac is contributing, Kevin Doyle has arrived, and the defense is still stingy. Things are looking up. Last Week: 18
- Philadelphia Union (3-7-3) - A couple weeks ago, I'd written these guys off as the worst team in the league. Now they're riding consecutive shutout wins against the East's elite despite starting a keeper who wasn't on the roster three weeks ago. What's going on in the City of Brotherly Love? Last Week: 20
- Portland Timbers (3-5-4) - Will Johnson was back in uniform. Unfortunately Diego Valeri left with an injury. Last Week: 17
- New York City SC (1-7-4) - Plenty of talent, not enough depth. Gonna be a long season. Last Week: 19
