Weekly Top Tens and Power Rankings

THE SOCCERSMITH'S MLS POWER RANKINGS

- FC Dallas (11-5-5) - Five wins in a row for Dallas with only an own goal and a penalty kick against them. These guys are good. Last Week: 3
- Sporting Kansas City (9-4-6) - Easily the most complete team in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals after their win against Houston. What does Benny Feilhaber have to do to get a call from Klinsmann?Last Week: 1
- Toronto FC (8-7-4) - Not sure what falling behind Columbus 3-0 was about, but Toronto once again showed off their explosive offense as they rallied for a big draw. Sebastian Giovinco remains my MVP. Last Week: 5
- LA Galaxy (9-7-7) - I'll give the short-handed Galaxy a pass for their poor showing against Houston. They're going to need to bounce back this week though to prove Gerrard's debut wasn't a fluke. Last Week: 2
- DC United (11-7-5) - Álvaro Saborío scored in his first game with United and helped them rally from a 2-0 deficit to pick up three points against Philadelphia. If the tandem of Saborío and Espíndola can get the DC United offense going, that could offset the loss of Bill Hamid. Last Week: 7
- New York Red Bulls (8-6-5) - A disappointing end to the Red Bulls' Open Cup run as they fell in a shootout to their nemesis, the Philadelphia Union. At least now they can concentrate on league play. Last Week: 4
- Vancouver Whitecaps (11-8-3) - Pedro Morales is back, and the Caps are back to their winning ways. Last Week: 8
- Columbus Crew (8-7-7) - Showed off their explosive offense by jumping out to a 3-0 lead over Toronto. Then showed off their porous defense by letting that lead slip away. Story of their season. Oh, and how did Ethan Finlay not make the All Star Game? Last Week: 10
- Real Salt Lake (7-7-8) - Real Salt Lake just keeps hanging around, and now they're in the Open Cup semifinals AND back to .500 in league play. More importantly, they're about to get back to full strength following the Gold Cup. Last Week: 11
- Portland Timbers (9-8-5) - No match for red hot Dallas. This team isn't the same when Will Johnson is out of the mix. Last Week: 6
- New York City SC (6-9-6) - People should be afraid of this team. With Andrea Pirlo, Mix Diskerud, Frank Lampard and David Villa, expect to see more offensive explosions like Sunday's 5-3 rout of Orlando. That Kwadwo Poku guy's not bad either. Last Week: 14
- Seattle Sounders (10-10-2) - Calling Clint Dempsey! Hopefully Deuce can help right this ship because the Sounders are hurting. Last Week: 9
- Houston Dynamo (7-8-6) - Bounced back from a loss to Sporting in the Open Cup to throttle the Galaxy 3-0. With Cubo Torres back from his loan, Giles Barnes back from the Gold Cup, and newcomer Rasheed Olabiyi in the mix, the Dynamo's attack is suddenly potent. Last Week: 12
- Montreal Impact (7-8-3) - A big three points against Seattle followed by the acquisition of Didier Drogba. Not a bad week for the Impact. Last Week: 15
- Orlando City SC (6-9-6) - Not a lot went right for Orlando this week as they crashed out of the U.S. Open Cup and surrendered eight goals in their two matches. But on the bright side, Cyle Larin scored four times as he continues to zero in on the Rookie of the Year award. Last Week: 13
- Colorado Rapids (5-6-9) - The Rapids have won three straight and now they're rested. This will be a big week for them. Last Week: 16
- Philadelphia Union (6-12-4) - Disappointing loss to DC United after taking a 2-0 lead, but the Union are back in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals thanks to a shutout win over the Red Bulls. Last Week: 17
- New England Revolution (7-9-7) - Lee Nguyen is heating up and Jermaine Jones is nearing his return. Things are looking up. Last Week: 18
- Chicago Fire (5-11-4) - The regular season has been a big disappointment, but the Fire suddenly find themselves in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals with a new designated player, Gilberto, in tow. Last Week: 20
- San Jose Earthquakes (7-9-4) - At least the future is bright for the Quakes with youngsters Tommy Thompson, Fatai Alashe and newly-acquired Marc Pelosi in the mix. Quincy Amarikwa has also been a nice addition, but time is running out in the competitive West. Last Week: 19
