Week 11 Power Rankings

*Rankings do not reflect Wednesday night's matches:

1. LA Galaxy (5-1-4) - Didn't get a win against Philadelphia, but the juggernaut that is the Galaxy continues to roll on. Last Week: 1
2. Colorado Rapids (7-2-3) - The Rapids are still unbeaten since the arrival of Jermaine Jones, and Tim Howard's return to MLS isn't far away. Last Week: 2
3. FC Dallas (7-4-2) - Just when you thought things were falling apart in Big D, Dallas bounces back with wins over conference rivals Portland and Seattle. Their seven wins are tied for tops in MLS. Last Week: 8
4. Montreal Impact (4-3-4) - DROGBA. He's like soccer's Nolan Ryan, he just keeps getting it done. Last Week: 5
5. Philadelphia Union (4-3-3) - Showed resolve in hard fought draws against top clubs from each conference. The Union appear to be for real, as does rookie right back Keegan Rosenberry. Last Week: 6
6. Real Salt Lake (5-3-2) - Disappointing showing against Houston, but at least Joao Plata's back on the field. Last Week: 3
7. Toronto FC (4-4-2) - Not a good showing from the Toronto defense AND now Jozy Altidore's hamstring is broken again. Week: 4
8. San Jose Earthquakes (5-3-3) - San Jose scored three on Houston and none of those came from Wondo (although he did notch two assists). Last Week: 9
9. Vancouver Whitecaps (6-5-2) - Wins fix everything, except maybe Masato Kudo's jaw. Still, despite a struggling offense, the Caps went out and notched six goals this week and a pair of Ws. Last Week: 11
10. New York City FC (4-3-4) - Just like that, City are starting to get something going. The real surprise is that they're succeeding while getting almost nothing from Mix Diskerud, their #1 draft pick hasn't dressed yet, and we haven't seen Frank Lampard. Last Week: 15

Philadelphia's Keegan Rosenberry continued to make his case for being an early rookie of the year favorite by adding his first goal along with playing solid defense at right back for the Union. Elsewhere, Chicago's Joey Calistri earned his first career assist while making his first career start in midweek action.

The B Team - Missing Copa América

So back in March, for kicks we put together a U.S. roster comprised of players that were not on the World Cup Qualifying Roster or the Olympic Qualifying Roster to see what kind of team we could throw together. Now with Copa América looming and the U.S.'s 40-man preliminary roster in place, I thought it might be fun to do it again. Our roster's going to look a little bit different this time with some players getting called up (Nick Rimando, Eric Lichaj, Danny Williams, Graham Zusi, Tim Ream and Perry Kitchen) and others hampered by injuries (Quincy Amarikwa), but I still think this is a halfway decent - if MLS-biased - roster. Here's what I came up with:

STARTERS

Goalkeeper - Luis Robles - New York Red Bulls - The reigning MLS goalkeeper of the year who hasn't missed a start since 2012 has had a rough start to 2016, but much of that can be attributed to the porous defense in front of him. CAPS: 2

Left Back - Jorge Villafaña - Santos Laguna - For whatever reason, despite the lack of left backs in the system, Villafaña still isn't getting a look with the USMNT. Well, he's a staple at left back for our B Team. CAPS: 0

Center Back - Nat Borchers - Portland Timbers - The Wyndham Rewards Wizard is still plugging away at Age 35. He's not a long term solution, but he brings toughness and savvy to the table without being a high risk for cards (just one yellow in his last 41 regular season matches. CAPS: 3

Center Back - Chad Marshall - Seattle Sounders - The 6'4" Marshall is exceptional in the air and already has a pair of goals for the Sounders this season. Paired with Borchers, Marshall would make the U.S. tough on set pieces on both ends of the field. CAPS: 11

Right Back - Robbie Rogers - LA Galaxy - Rogers is better on the left than on the right, but he's shown this year after Ashley Cole took the left back spot that he can play on either side of the field. With his attacking background, Rogers is always dangerous moving forward and would give the U.S. an effective attack out of the back. CAPS: 18

Defensive Midfield - Wil Trapp - Columbus Crew - One of many young players looking to be the heir apparent to Kyle Beckerman, Trapp helped the Crew reach the MLS Cup in 2015, and has started every game for them in 2016. CAPS: 2

Defensive Midfield - Dax McCarty - New York Red Bulls - Full disclosure, I would have liked to put Matt Polster in this spot alongside Trapp, but Polster's banged up, so instead we'll go with the veteran. McCarty was a huge reason for the Red Bulls' success in 2015, and after a slow start he's playing better of late. CAPS: 5

Left Wing - Brek Shea - Orlando City SC - He's been playing more left back than left wing, but he's got the athleticism and the attacking skillset to allow him to slot in here without a huge drop in play. CAPS: 34

Attacking Midfield - Benny Feilhaber - Sporting Kansas City - Klinsmann may not like Feilhaber, but I do. He's a playmaker, and has a great engine, and while he may not be Michael Bradley, he could certainly run this offense. CAPS: 41

Right Wing - Mike Grella - New York Red Bulls - An exciting winger, Grella burst onto the scene in 2015 after spending 2014 in the NASL and delivered 9 goals and 7 assists for the Supporters Shield Winners. And to show it wasn't a fluke, Grella is off to a fast start in 2016 with three goals already. CAPS: 0

Striker - C.J. Sapong - Philadelphia Union - One of the more notable snubs, Sapong is really coming into his own with the Union and is a big reason they've turned their fortunes around. CAPS: 2.

BENCH

Goalkeeper - Clint Irwin - Toronto FC - CAPS: 0

Center Back - Marvell Wynne - San Jose Earthquakes - CAPS: 5
Right Back - Jonathan Spector - Birmingham City - CAPS: 36
Defensive Midfield - Scott Caldwell - New England Revolution - CAPS: 0
Attack Midfield - Sacha Kljestan - New York Red Bulls - CAPS: 46
Left Wing - Chris Rolfe - DC United - CAPS: 10
Right Wing - Chris Pontius - Philadelphia Union - CAPS: 0
Striker - Juan Agudelo - New England Revolution - CAPS: 20

Week 10 Power Rankings

1. LA Galaxy (5-1-3) - The Galaxy have scored four or more goals four times this year and are unbeaten in their last seven. With Robbie Keane back, Gio dos Santos contributing and Gyasi Zardes playing great all-around soccer, the Galaxy figure to be a nightmare for just about anyone to defend. Last Week: 1
2. Colorado Rapids (6-2-2) - It doesn't seem that long ago that we were wondering how the Rapids would handle losing Marco Pappa. With Jermaine Jones playing tremendous, the Rapids haven't missed a beat. Last Week: 2
3. Real Salt Lake (5-2-2) - Tough loss against Colorado for RSL as they obviously miss Joao Plata. Last Week: 3
4. Toronto FC (4-3-2) - Rookie Tsubasa Endoh scored his first goal as the Reds picked up their third win in the last four. Week: 6
5. Montreal Impact (4-3-3) - Showed off their explosiveness by rallying from a 4-1 deficit to salvage a draw with the Crew. The trio of Didier Drogba, Dominic Oduro and Ignacio Piatti is proving to be a lethal one. Last Week: 5
6. Philadelphia Union (4-3-1) - Hopefully the idle Union took advantage of their bye week. Wednesday's showdown with the high-powered Galaxy will be a great test for them. Last Week: 8
7. Seattle Sounders (4-4-1) - Jordan Morris has scored in four straight, and Seattle's won three of those matches. Last Week: 12
8. FC Dallas (5-4-2) - Outscored 8-0 in their last three, all losses. This can't all be because of the absence of Matt Hedges, can it? Last Week: 4
9. San Jose Earthquakes (4-3-3) - Clearly missing Quincy Amarikwa, but the Quakes are still in good shape overall. Last Week: 7
10. Orlando City SC (2-2-5) - The lack of wins is a concern, but at least they're not piling up losses. Last Week: 11
