Weekly Power Rankings, Week 30

THE SOCCERSMITH'S MLS POWER RANKINGS

*Only reflects matches played through Sunday (9/27)

 - LA Galaxy (14-9-8) - Advancing to the Champions League Quarterfinals and snapped their goal drought with a big win over FC Dallas on Sunday night. Last Week: 3
- New England Revolution (13-10-8) - Denied by a fine showing from Philly's Andre Blake, and have lost just once in their last ten. Last Week: 2
 - New York Red Bulls (14-9-6) - Poor showing against Orlando City, but they're still the only team who has clinched a playoff berth. Last Week: 1
 - Montreal Impact (12-11-6) - Didier Drogba has dominated in his first month in MLS and the Impact are suddenly cruising with a six game unbeaten streak. Last Week: 9
 - FC Dallas (14-10-5) - Could not slow the Galaxy attack, but are still in a pretty good spot moving forward. Last Week: 4
 - Columbus Crew (13-10-8) - Another goal for Kei Kamara, but missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot in a loss to Portland. Last Week: 5
 - Sporting Kansas City (12-9-9) - Only picked up one point this week, but we all know their focus was on the U.S. Open Cup Final. Last Week: 6
 - Seattle Sounders (14-13-4) - Advanced in the Champions League, but couldn't put away Sporting's backups in a 1-1 draw. Last Week: 10
 - Portland Timbers (12-10-8) - Fanendo Adi is just as likely to score two goals as he is one with four braces on the season. Last Week: 11
- Toronto FC (13-13-4) - Sebastian Giovinco joins Kei Kamara in the 20 goal club and the offense is clicking, but the defense is still troublesome. Last Week: 12
 - DC United (13-12-6) - Advancing in the Champions League, but DC United has five losses in a draw in their last six MLS matches. Last Week: 7
 - Vancouver Whitecaps (15-12-3) - Still lead the league with 15 wins, but they don't look comfortable and just got dumped out of the Champions League by rival Seattle. Last Week: 8
- San Jose Earthquakes (12-12-7) - Big win against Real Salt Lake, but losing Matías Pérez García to a red card immediately following his game winning goal won't help their postseason aspirations. Last Week: 14
- Real Salt Lake (10-12-8) - Backbreaking loss to San Jose as postseason hopes are quickly slipping away. At least they have the Champions League. Last Week: 13
- New York City SC (10-14-7) - Finally putting it together, but it might be too little too late for Frank Lampard's crew. Last Week: 15
- Orlando City SC (10-13-8) - Cyle Larin smashed the rookie scoring record with a hat trick against the Red Bulls, but the bigger story is that OC is unbeaten since the return of Brek Shea and super-sub Bryan Róchez has scored off the bench in three straight. Last Week: 17
- Houston Dynamo (11-12-8) - Six point week keeps their slim postseason hopes alive. Nice to see Giles Barnes getting in on the action once again. Last Week: 19
- Philadelphia Union (9-15-7) - I like Tranquillo Barnetta, and I think with a full season of him they could be competitive in the East. Andre Blake has been solid lately too, has Philly finally settled on their keeper? Last Week: 16
- Colorado Rapids (8-12-10) - The West's weakest club lost a tough one against the Dynamo. Time to start focusing on next season. Last Week: 18
- Chicago Fire (7-18-6) - Very little going right for the 18-loss Fire as they racked up two more losses this week, but at least they have what looks to be a decent young collection of players. Last Week: 20
