Two movie quotes come to mind when I look at Jürgen Klinsmann's latest Team USA camp roster.
From Miracle:
You're missing some of the best players. I'm not looking for the best players... I'm looking for the right ones.
And from Major League:
Who are these f%ckin' guys?
Of the 28 players in the U.S. Camp right now, there are actually six that I haven't heard of before they showed up on the roster. And I consider myself a fairly big soccer fan. So for the benefit of others who might be asking "Who are these f%ckin' guys?" Here's a rundown of the six most obscure invites (in my opinion).
Alex Bono - The 20 year old Bono is a member of the 2015 Generation Adidas program. A junior at Syracuse who won't be returning for his senior year, Bono appears to be in a good position to jockey for a spot on the U.S.'s Olympic team. Bono is expected to be an early selection in next week's MLS draft as he is one of three finalists for the College Soccer Player of the Year award.
Christian Dean - Dean was the third overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. A central defender who stands 6'3", Dean made one start and three appearances as a substitute for the Vancouver Whitecaps in his debut season.
Oscar Sorto - Another defender, Sorto has played 15 minutes for the LA Galaxy in two seasons, but does have some experience with the U.S.'s youth national teams. He made his professional debut in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2013.
Dennis Flores - Born in Pasadena, the 21 year old Flores made his Liga Mx debut for Club León in March. An attacking midfielder who caught a break and made the jump from Pasadena's Sunday leagues to Liga Mx, Flores was called up to a US U-23 camp this fall and scored a goal against the Bahamas senior national team.
Marc Pelosi - Pelosi scored a pair of goals in the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championships and currently features on Liverpool's U-21 squad. Just 20 years old, the German-born lefty can play in central midfield or along the left side.
Julio Morales - Morales, who currently plays for on loan Tepic of the Ascenso MX (second-tier league in Mexico), is eligible to play for both the US and Mexico. He appeared for Chivas USA on loan back in 2013 scoring a pair of goals in 17 matches. His contract is owned by Guadalajara.
