The US opened their Gold Cup defense with a 2-1 win over Honduras behind a pair of goals by Clint Dempsey. The US jumped out to a 2-0 lead will both goals coming off of set pieces before surrendering a goal in the second half and then hanging on late to earn the full three points. Next up for the US is a showdown with Haiti in Foxborough on Friday. Haiti tied Panama 1-1 in their opener. Group B will be in action tomorrow with Costa Rica taking on Jamaica and El Salvador taking on Canada.
