Trinidad and Tobago scored three goals in the opening 25 minutes as they pulled off a surprising 3-1 upset of Guatemala in the opening match of Group C. MLSers Cordell Cato (San Jose) and Joevin Jones (Chicago) both scored for T&T while Elías Vásquez (Real Salt Lake) picked up an assist on Guatemala's lone goal. Former MLS MVP, and Guatemala's all-time leading scorer, Carlos Ruiz scored Guatemala's lone goal. In the day's other match, Mexico throttled a short-handed Cuban squad 6-0 behind a hat trick by Oribe Peralta (Club América). Mexico outshot Cuba 44-3. The U.S. is back in action tomorrow when they take on Haiti while Honduras faces off against Panama.
