MLS Weekly Top Tens and Power Rankings - 6/8/15

THE SOCCERSMITH'S MLS POWER RANKINGS

 - Sporting Kansas City (6-2-6) - Yes, Seattle didn't have their stars, and yes Feilhaber's goal was a result of a soft PK, but when you're number two, and you beat number one, you probably deserve to move up. At least right now. Tim Melia has been dominant in six starts since taking over in goal. Last Week: 2
a - Seattle Sounders (8-4-2) - Not fair to drop them too far considering their top two offensive players weren't available against Sporting, so we'll call them 1a this week. Last Week: 1
 - Toronto FC (6-5-1) - Sebastian Giovinco is the best player in the league right now. Period. Last Week: 6
 - DC United (8-4-4) - Good win against Chicago, but couldn't contain the Atomic Ant in a loss to Toronto. Last Week: 5
 - Portland Timbers (6-5-4) - The suddenly relevant Timbers have now won three in a row despite not having Diego Valeri on the field. Fanendo Adi took his demotion to the bench well scoring two goals off the bench in their win over New England. Last Week: 12
 - New England Revolution (5-4-6) - Shocked late by Portland surrendering a pair of late goals. New England is still a force to be reckoned with, but they really need Lee Nguyen to step up. Last Week: 3
- Vancouver Whitecaps (8-6-2) - Bounced back from a loss to Montreal to defeat the Galaxy 1-0. Octavio Rivero has just one goal in his last ten matches. Last Week: 7
 - Montreal Impact (4-4-2) - Beat the Whitecaps AND the Crew in an impressive week. Now they just need some consistency because I feel like these guys have the potential to be really good. Last Week: 17
- FC Dallas (6-4-4)Fabián Castillo was limited to 30 minutes while Blas Pérez was away on international duty. The result? No goals for Dallas. Last Week: 9
- New York Red Bulls (4-4-5) - Couldn't hang with Houston in a wild second half. The Red Bulls, who started out hot, have cooled off. Last Week: 8
- Houston Dynamo (5-5-5) - If Will Bruin and company play like they did the final 45 minutes against New York every week, they're going to shoot up the standings AND the power rankings. Last Week: 15
- LA Galaxy (5-5-6) - Didn't put a shot on target against the Whitecaps, but we did have an Edson Buddle sighting! Still treading water as they await Steven Gerrard's arrival. Last Week: 10
- San Jose Earthquakes (5-5-4) - Saw two players see red, but still managed a draw with FC Dallas. Someone other than Wondo needs to start scoring. Last Week: 11
- Columbus Crew (4-6-4) - I'm starting to think I have seriously overrated the Crew this season. Is Wil Trapp that much of a difference maker? Last Week: 4
- Orlando City SC (4-5-5) - Falling a spot despite a win might be harsh, but to be fair they got two own goals by the same Fire player in a 3-2 game. Cyle Larin's goal off the bench was highlight-worthy, but I'd still like to see more from the supporting cast. Last Week: 14
- Real Salt Lake (4-5-6) - Played without Kyle Beckerman and lost Jamison Olave in the opening minutes to an injury and still salvaged a point. Still, at some point, they need to start getting something from their attack. Last Week: 16
- Philadelphia Union (4-9-3) - Impressive performance against the Crew and Brian Sylvestre has really taken hold of the #1 keeper spot. Last Week: 18
- Chicago Fire (4-7-2) - Gave up six goals in two losses this week, but at least Kennedy Igboananike and David Accam are starting to produce. Last Week: 13
 - New York City SC (2-7-5) - Came from behind to defeat the Union and earned just their second win of the year despite playing without Mix Diskerud. Thomas McNamara's first goal for City was a thing of beauty. Last Week: 20
 - Colorado Rapids (2-4-8) - Had a chance to take three points against Real Salt Lake, but Dillon Powers missed wide on a penalty. The Rapids have four 0-0 ties this season. Last Week: 19
